Moviescape – Haunted House: Exorcist

Moviescape – Haunted House: Exorcist. Game Date 10/06/2017. Team: Amy & Ian

Crowley Manor, the worlds most haunted escape room is back!

While investigating  the disappearance of  two paranormal investigators, two Vatican priests vanished.”

Moviescape certainly don’t do things by halves… this room was gorgeous. Sort of a “sequel” to their Haunted House room, it takes on the original story and builds on it.
Moviescape really deliver immersion, theme and story throughout their games, and HH:E is no exception, they have a definite stamp in their theme and execution. They really put you in a story for an hour and whisk you to another world!
The room is large and clean. The lighting does change throughout the game, there are some moments of darkness, but this doesn’t even affect game play.
Brilliant design, brilliant execution. This is the 3rd of Moviescape’s games we’ve played, and they just keep getting better, and better… we can’t wait to see what the future holds for this company!

Game Play:
The game was strictly linear, and had a pace about it that a lot of rooms don’t have, the puzzles, locks and keys kept flowing all throughout the game and there wasn’t a moment of down time (except when we missed a couple of details, this was OUR fault not game design) – There is a broad range of puzzles, code breaking, word, observation, physical.
This game contained a wonderful standout puzzle, which when all the pieces come together is such a joy and so much fun!
Every puzzle in the room is perfectly in theme and solvable, with lovely Ah-ha moments for each puzzle, they’re all so much fun to solve!
Any group size is great for this room, as it’s about being put into a real life Movie for an hour… the puzzles are great but the story, theme and immersion take the crown in this room!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a disembodied voice… this can sometimes be a little hard to hear over the ambient sound in the room, but there is no problem with the clue being delivered twice if needs be!

Game Host:
Carl and Ronnie were our game hosts, (and 2 of the owners at Moviescape) and their passion, & dedication are obvious, we could have chatted for hours, and hours, and hours… They ran our game brilliantly, giving us clues when we asked, but the beauty of the room meant we only needed 2 nudges in the right direction.

Did we escape?
Yes, in about 47 minutes!
