Game Date: 23/05/2019

sam

Theme:
“Sam’s Saloon has always been the place for drinks, fun and a little bit of wheeler dealing!

Sam has always had a feisty reputation and I will put it to you this way… the county sheriff’s don’t like the fact that he thinks he is above the law!

One sheriff in particular has took a disliking to Sam and that is person is Sheriff Malone. He’s more of a crook than a Sheriff and is looking to put an end to Sam’s business once and for all.

The locals have just fled the bar due to a commotion and you managed to hide yourself away until all is quiet.

Although you have just realized the door is armed with a bomb and if anybody opens it you can wave bye-bye to having another drink.

If you want to have any hope of surviving and becoming the local hero it is time you find the gold bars that Sam has hidden away and disarm the bomb before the dust settles and everyone returns!

60 minutes is all you have to disarm the bomb, recover the gold and escape the saloon. Do you have what it takes?”

Sam’s Saloon looked good,  a large space, which is more than big enough for the maximum of 6 players.
The room was decorated well, with all the classic accoutrements you’d expect in a western themed room. A good bar, poker table, piano and a few other surprises along the way.
The room was well lit, we never struggled for any light in the room.
The immersion was good, and the room was a lovely place to spend the hour in, with plenty to look at and investigate but never complicating the game play or detracting from the puzzles.

Game Play:
An open game with loads of cracking puzzles. Word, logic, physical, observation, math, sound, codebreaking, searching. Most bases were covered in this game giving everyone something to do and their chance to shine.
Puzzles were all excellent in their logic and totally on theme. The ah-ha moments came thick and fast and all the puzzles were clear in their answers once the logic on the puzzle had been discovered.
This room had a good amount of discovery despite only being set in one room, the puzzles had us bouncing all over the room and there was never a dull moment.
The flow was exceptional, and we didn’t stop for the entire hour it was jam-packed with puzzles to do.
Signposting was excellent, maybe a bit subtle for newer players but it was there, clear and very elegant and concise.
A Fabulous game that is a lot of fun in its puzzling, detailed in its gameplay and would be an excellent first escape room whilst still pleasing more experienced players. All in all, it’s just a fun-filled romp through a good room with lovely puzzles and nice moments all the way through.

Clue System:
Clue’s were delivered via a screen in the room

Game Host:
Natalie was our host and she was lovely, friendly and polite. Game briefing came via a video which was entertaining and informative. Natalie delivered excellent timed clues, always leaving us to figure stuff out, only jumping in when we were truly stumped.

Did we escape?
Yes, in about 50 minutes
