prison-keys

Theme:
“You and your cell mate have been locked up in a maximum security prison for a crime you didn’t commit. You have both been planning your escape for some time.

After an attack from rival inmates you have been put in solitary confinement for a week. When you return you find your cell mate has already escaped.

Can you follow the hidden hints and clues that he has left behind for you and get out before the guards do their rounds in 60 minutes?”

The theming was good, with an impressive use of space in the first half of the game, making use of the buildings brickwork and architecture! Very nicely done, in the later stages of the game the theming got a bit more standard and was a little less impressive than the “cell” It was still very well put together, clean and very spacious… there would be no problem in space with a bigger group in this room.
The story was consistent throughout and carried on into the puzzles… you really could imagine your cell mate leaving all the clues for you to follow to gain your freedom!

Game Play:
The game was strictly linear, a good mix of puzzles tending to lean a little more to observation and codebreaking. A fairly search heavy room with plenty to do.
There was one very good puzzle which was a simple in it’s execution but delivered a result we didn’t expect!
The flow was good, a little slow in places but that didn’t effect the game play too much. Just a small (a very small) logic leap here and there that I felt could be cleared up with a slightly different implementation of puzzle.
The style of the game was certainly one of “early design” – The Live Escape has been around for a few years, and that showed, whilst still a good solid game, it had that linearity and “point and click” feeling of some of the older games that are about (that is NOT a detriment to the game, this was no way a bad game, in fact it would be a brilliant introduction to an escape room for someone who’d never played before!)
Enthusiasts, take a 2! Newbies take a 4, or even a 5.

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Game Host:
Olivia was our host, and since this was a last minute booking, stayed on late to accommodate us! She was friendly and delivered a great brief. She ran our game really well and only delivered clues when we REALLY needed them!

Did we escape?
Yes, in 48 minutes!
