Cryptology Barnsley – HMS Cypher. Game Date 01/04/2017. Team: Amy & Ian
“Mentally prepare yourself to travel back in time to find out what happened to the HMS Cypher and her crew.
Set in 1943 the Cypher was tasked with hunting a new and deadly German U-Boat that could change the course of World War Two.
Remember, nothing you are about to encounter has ever been acknowledged by the British Government!”
WOW. Was our first impression when we walked in, the theming was superb & the immersion was fantastic! Finished to such a high quality. The immersion was great and the use of space was so clever in making it feel like the tight tunnels of a submarine. Sound track and effects were used to great effect, further more involving us in the story and immersion of the game.
Game play was linear and 2 fold, as well as escaping the submarine, you also have a side mission! The flow of the game was superb, with some amazing puzzles. One of which being one of the best puzzles we’ve done in a while. The entire room was intelligent and fostered teamwork by the bucket-full, you can’t play this room without excellent communication and teamwork.
The puzzles were all made up of many components, which all came together seamlessly to create brilliant Ah-ha moments. This room was so brilliant in it’s game play and immersion that when we encountered one moment, we thought we have screwed us up beyone redemption!
Enthusiasts will love this game, Newbies may find it challenging but still exciting and fun!

Simon was our Game Host and we could have chatted for EVER about escape rooms and the industry. He was so welcoming and friendly and ran our game perfectly!
