Theme:
“Your colleague, and friend, PC Richards has been missing for over a week. His last known location is an old abandoned warehouse on the outskirts of town which he had gone to investigate one night after work. His obsession with a closed kidnapping case had left him paranoid and wanting to investigate more.

You decide to go to the abandoned warehouse to see if you can find any clues as to where he may have gone. You come across a gruesome crime scene. You have 60 minutes, whilst the tech team have the alarms disabled, to investigate and discover the fate of your friend.”

Disturbed definitely had a creepy vibe to the room, and decorations were kept to the bare minimum, which was used to great effect. Simple bloodstained, and later in the game writing adorned walls gave a great sense of being in a serial killer’s “hangout” – A fairly immersive game, with an eerie soundtrack to compliment the room. Not particularly scary, but very atmospheric.

Game Play:
A very, very HARD game, with a strong bias towards maths. The room starts fairly open but becomes more and more linear as the game progresses. A staple of breakout is 3-4 incredibly hard puzzles accompanied by lots of little, quick “filler” puzzles. The filler puzzles were very enjoyable, logical and fun. (even the use of a jigsaw was unique and not tedious!) and used most standard escape room puzzles (word, observation, logic, skill)
The harder puzzles in this room all seemed to be very maths based, which, if I’m honest I didn’t gel with at all, thankfully Ian is great at maths and after a few tries we powered through!
The flow seemed a bit “all or nothing” – but this may be how we played last night, it was a late game and we were both tired. We seemed to steam through some puzzles and get totally stuck on others (and made a few silly mistakes!) It was a very, very good room with some taxing, yet rewarding puzzles!
Enthusiasts will enjoy the difficulty in this room, newbies may bit rather overwhelmed… this is one to try after playing a couple of Breakout’s easier rooms first!

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Game Host:
Gemma was our game host, and she was also out game host for Cursed Carnival in Liverpool, and she remembered us! Yay! It was lovely to see her again, and she ran the game VERY well, considering it was her first time running Disturbed! A massive well done Gemma on coping with a difficult game with ease and getting us clues at the perfect time!

Did we escape?
BARELY! We made it out at 59 minutes and 10 seconds. Yes. 50 seconds to spare. It was TOO close, my hands were literally shaking. It was a hard, well won (if not a bit stressful) game!
