So, after a pit stop at Yo Sushi, (the less said about how long it took us to FIND Yo Sushi the better….) we were onto our next game, at Exit Plan Edinburgh. I was very excited for this game having had it booked for AAGGGES!

Theme:
You are woken up by a maniacal laugh.  It sends a chill down your spine.  That crazed cackle is unmistakable – you have been captured by the evil genius Svengali for his own twisted amusement!

Handcuffed to the wall, you are completely at the mercy of your captor.  But he has a game for you to play in order to earn your freedom.  If you defeat the devious puzzles the dastardly Svengali has set for you – you will be free!

In order to focus your mind however, your hideous host has provided you with some motivation to escape before the hour is up….”

The theming in the room leaned towards “office” but the addition of some piping, handcuffs and a giant portrait of a skull told you otherwise, this was the lair of a madman. The finish was excellent and the simplicity of the decor allowed us to focus solely on the puzzles at hand. Nothing was put in the room which wasn’t needed, which made game play a dream…

Game Play:
The game was rather linear, with some lovely logical puzzles that I just loved… in fact I don’t think there was a puzzle in this room I didn’t like! Lots of locks and a little bit of tech, each puzzle was paired perfectly with what it opened. The flow of the room was slick too, with a clear direction where to go. The only time we slowed was down to US, not the game.
The variety of puzzles was excellent, with logic, word, observation and physical puzzles all playing a part in the room. It REALLY played to our strengths, and no math too which is always a bonus!
I have to give a shout out to possibly the best first puzzle we’ve ever experienced, and the funniest method of key delivery… I was in stitches (obviously I won’t put any spoilers in here, but it really put a smile on my face)
The final puzzle was a joy too, combining several elements to diffuse a sticky situation, the clarity in the elements was so logical and clear cut, I enjoyed this final puzzle the most out of all of them!
A lovely, lovely room. Newbies WILL find it difficult, as there is a lot to do in the hour and enthusiasts will just LOVE this room.

Clue System:
Clues were delivered via a screen

Game Host:
Aiden was our game host and was very chatty, friendly and chilled! (considering he reset our room super quick after the group before us ran over!) He ran our game incredibly well, offering us hints at the perfect time with expertise. A genuinely great host (Keep hold of him Exit Plan!)

Did we escape?
Yes in 44 minutes!
