Trapped In – Ruby Factory. Game Date 24/08/2016. Team: Amy & Ian
Back to Trapped In, for our 4th (and for now final) visit! Their new room Ruby Factory had opened a few days ago, so we booked in and went!
“Infiltrate the abandoned Ruby Factory and escape with as many rubies as possible before the security guards return. You will need to use physical and mental skills to operate the disused machinery and extract the rubies. This game isn’t about how quickly you can get out, hence it’s easy rating. To get on the leader board you’ll need to collect the most rubies and successfully escape before the guards return”
Theming was nicely done, things were looking a little “abandoned” and my first impressions were “zomg crystal maze” at a lot of the puzzles around the room! It didn’t really give me factory vibes though, although it did seem industrial!
The game was non-linear. Which utterly threw me for a loop… so much so I FORGOT we had to get the exit code (it was THAT non linear) There were puzzles EVERYWHERE of lots of different types, physical, mental, skill, mystery! There were 2 stand out puzzles for me, anyone who was a fan of the Crystal Maze will love them! I feel that there was a lot to do for just 2 people, I urge you to get a group of 4+ for this room if you play it! Even so, it was a fun room!
I feel providing a pencil & paper in the room would aide immensely!
Clues were delivered via a screen… although clues were kept to a bare minimum as it is a leader board room!
Our Game Host was the owner of Trapped In, very friendly, and chatty (and clearly passionate about his rooms!) – he delivered the few hints we did have well, and made us feel welcome and gave us a very thorough debrief afterwards!
Did we escape?
No! I totally forgot until the last moment we needed an exit code, the annoying thing is… I’d be unknowingly working it out all through the game too! Argh!
